Our Volunteer Caregiving program provides non-medical caregiving services to seniors age 60 and over and adults living with mild disabilities. We recruit, screen, train, and match volunteers with individuals in need of support.

Thanks to our individual donors and grants, our services are always free.

Shepherd’s Hand Volunteer Caregiving provides companionship, respect and assistance for our neighbors to preserve their independence & connect to community, while maintaining their dignity and quality of life through:

  • friendly visiting

  • light housekeeping & minor home repairs

  • transportation for essential needs (grocery store, bank, pharmacy, healthcare appointments)

  • organizing mail & help with correspondence

  • respite for primary caregivers

volunteers can choose which “jobs” fit with their available time and commitment level. Any amount of time can make a significant impact in a person’s life.

Direct services are provided through volunteers, so services are dependent on their availability. Volunteers determine what tasks they are willing to do, where they will go, and when they are available. Our volunteers are backed with liability insurance, have passed a background check, and are trained to serve vulnerable seniors and people with disabilities in our area. There are no fees for services and no income eligibility requirements.

Shepherd's Hand staff will conduct a thorough in-home assessment prior to sending any volunteer into someone's home.
